Whether you have a few containers, a community garden plot, or a large “country” garden, you can supply your family and friends with nutritious vegetables and fruits. Gardening is terrific exercise and can help reduce household food expenses, plus the added bonus of knowing what you are eating 
Planning and preparation are essential to a good gardening experience. A vegetable garden is not created in a day. Before you run out to the garden center and buy plants, think about these 5 basic steps:

love this theme too, i just switched the backgrounds. one thing though, i do change the font to georgia manually when posting so text is easier on the eyes than the tiny font that is preset. i have to upgrade to make georgia default font.

I love your onion planter idea. If you haven’t done this already, make sure you use a plastic container that doesn’t have the chemicals in it (pba free)

it is just a png, i don’t think you have to request permission if it is non-profit organization and something small like ladies church retreat
i did not request permission as i used for information and educational purposes only, if they want it down i will gladly use other image

I boiled heads of cabbage for making cabbage rolls (yum!) and want to know if I can use the boiling water to water my houseplants safely? One of my ‘plants’ is a lime tree which I love so I don’t want to harm it! Really appreciate any info you can give me on this subject as I am a caterer and am always boiling something and hate throwing away what I may be able to make use of. 🙂

Hi, I have a question my wild sassafras plants aren’t doing well, they were doing good for a while then all of a sudden the leaves are going yellow and falling off… I’m growing 4 of them in Sarasota, FL in my back yard. How can i save them!

Thank! It says the leaves go dormant in the summer but mine have no berries, so hopefully it will grow back at spring so i can see the berry’s! “The leaves go dormant in summer before the fruits ripen. The berries taste a little spicy and sweet.” Courtesy of wikipedia

in the instructions it says to remove bottle neck, in th’ photos the neck is intact, or so it appears t’ me. I see th’ top o’ th’ cap has been removed. I assume for waterin’. I like th’ idea of leavin’ th’ handle on!

Do you plant the onion bulbs to harness the leaves or the onions, and should you want to use the onions how do you then get them out of the container when they are much bigger?

you can use the greens if you like, and you can always cut the plastic and start new one if onions get too big 🙂

I have a pomegranate tree about five years old I planted it from a seed in a container. I didn’t get any fruit yet, how long does it take to get fruits? Is there anything I can do to encourage bloom, please help me on this, thanks

hello
I was wondering, since you can only put one brussel plant in a 12 inch container, is there anything else you could plant along with it, like maybe allysum (sp?) or something else.

Hi! I love anything flowers and I love to take pictures of flowers! I noticed that there is a FB group where the group owner apparently has stolen your forsythia picture, cropped it and put her own name on it. Like I said, I love taking pictures and this is theft. If you don’t mind, that’s fine, but if this is as big of a deal to you as it is to me, let me know and I will share the details. I’d include the picture here, but I don’t see a way to do that.
