Bone Broth—One of Your Most Healing Diet Staples

Akka's Natures Way+living

Story at-a-glance

  • Bone broth contains valuable minerals in a form your body can easily absorb and use, including calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, silicon, sulfur chondroitin, glucosamine, and a variety of trace minerals

  • The gelatin found in bone broth is a hydrophilic colloid. It attracts and holds liquids, including digestive juices, thereby supporting proper digestion

  • Bone broth also inhibits infection caused by cold and flu viruses, for example, and fights inflammation, courtesy of anti-inflammatory amino acids such as arginine

  • Making your own bone broth is very cost effective, as you can make use of left over carcass bones that would otherwise be thrown away. And making your own broth is quite easy

  1. I ate a lot of bone broth (in soups) as a child and was always eating the marrow in bones. It is delicious stuff BUT now I am a vegan I don’t eat it. I figure the early years were bathed in marrow so I am allowed a hall pass on the bone marrow now 😉

    • Am with you on the bone marrow….I still go to local butcher and buy whole sheen of beef, cut it in half, and have 2 large chunks for a large pot of broth one at the time 😀 ..As for the marrow, I STILL LOVE IT… 😀

      • My dad used to leave a cooked leg of lamb out in the heat for days on end. He said “It never killed me before” and he was right…it didn’t kill him…the smokes and booze did. I guess stressing out about what you put into your mouth and how much you do is part and parcel with giving yourself some kind of digestive problems so I figure if you are going to eat something, you may as well enjoy it :).
